get more heat with less wood

Pictured as a pre-built unit. See pictures to turn a regular wood stove burner into an efficent burn system that can give you heat for days instead of hours.

How it works-

1. Burn wood chamber;

2. Burn the smoke chamber; (See Example Here)

3. Take every BTU out before it goes out the chimney via the cooling tower and mass heated. (See Example Here)

The Jet Stove's History:

Sure, it sounds simple now. But it took 8 months of testing to accomplish. "Jet" stoves came about when years ago we looked into making our own wood stove. We used traditional style wood burning stoves and found we used too much wood throughout the year. Since we only heat with wood, it is important to use as little as possible. We looked into a Rocket Mass heater design but felt we needed something a little more durable than a 50 gallon oil drum. Besides we have better uses for our barrel drums. So with time invested in making over 4 different models we came up with the "JetStove" design that we have been happy with for quite some time now.

Its part traditional, rocket, and masonry stove all built into one unit.

Benefits of a high-tech burn:

  1. Smoke-Less Burning means you have fewer gases left after the second burn chamber. Often, the exhaust is only moisture.
  2. More Comfort from Less wood. This happens because the cooling tower and mass heat area take out twice to three times the heat from the system. You can keep warm on less wood because in some situations - you will either burn a third of the wood or heat more of the house. If you cut your on wood - you know how valuable your time is. You also know how cold it can be when the wood stove went out at night. The JetStove is designed for long lasting heat because you will get every BTU out of the wood you burn. The exhaust leaving your home will be room temperature.
  3. If you buy fossil fuels you'll find wood to be as comfortable as a gas furnace and easier on your pocket! Since the burning system is designed to heat for days instead of hours, you may find you only need a fire occationally instead of daily. This of course will depend on the amount of insulation and other factors in your home.
  4. Wood is available in most areas locally so you will be helping the local economy and taking control of your costs for comfort.

Though every wood burning system can be made more effecient, the JetStove design is meant to work with indoor only stoves. Some efficency is lost on stoves that radiate more heat than they send through their chimney and take a longer burn time to get the second chamber going, but still add 2 to 3 times the increased heat and comfort.

Typical Rocket Mass Heat systems have an efficency of about 99% of wood burned. This means 99% of all gases, smoke and very little ash remain. With JetStoves, this high degree of efficency can be gained with complete units but the efficency of smoke-less fitted chimneys on existing wood burners ranges from 50% to 80% more efficent. There is more ash left with conventional wood stove units but nearly all indoor wood burning stoves will see improved efficency and comfort. Personally, we like the look of some of our present wood stoves and are ok with the 30% reduced efficency. Other places like heating barn areas for young lambs - we want maximum efficency.
